Welcome to the first
ever Warhammer 40,000 Army Challenge.
The goal of the challenge is to
build and paint an 1850pt tournament
army for the LVGC's February RTT.
Many club members have been participating
in various Escalation Leagues, however
the short time-span of these events
usually means we're playing with
our existing armies. The LVGC is
made up of mostly adult gamer who
all have families and full-time
jobs. To accommodate this, we're
running our challenge over the course
of several months. This should give
members time to not only build and
paint their armies, but also to
include cool conversions and extra
details we wouldn't have the time
to do in a 4-5 week Escalation League.
Rules:
- The purpose of
the 40k Army Challenge is to encourage
those members who have started,
or want to start, a new 40k army.
The goal is to build and paint
1850pts. To make things simple,
this will include brand new armies,
as well as smaller existing armies
which you are adding on to or
which are unpainted. It DOES NOT
include your 3000pt army that
you want to add some new units
to. The idea is that we all need
some good motivation to help us
finish assembly and/or painting.
- Participants are
not required to make it to all
of the games during the challenge,
but they should submit a photo
of their completed models if they
won't be able to make it to the
game. Participants should plan
on playing in the February tournament.
- To make things
interesting, each person wishing
to participate will be asked to
donate $10 to the prize pool.
This will hopefully keep us all
motivated. There will be 3-4 mini-battles
throughout the course of the challenge
to practice with our armies as
they're built. At the RTT in February,
the player who scores highest
overall from the participating
members will win a gift certificate
for all of the prize money. So
if we get 10 participants you
can win $100. This prize is in
addition to any of the normal
RTT prizes the club gives out,
and only those participating in
the Army Challenge are eligible.
You can pay your entry fee to
any Club Officer.
Schedule:
The final schedule
is below:
November
13 - The unofficial deadline
for announcing your participation
in the challenge. We would like
to know which army you're working
on, and if you have any info (list,
fluff, pics of finished or in progress
stuff), then we'd like that too.
You can submit all of your info
via email to Grace (Arylith@yahoo.com).
This should also serve as your target
for completing your first unit or
HQ (not required, but think of it
as motivation).
December
11 - The big kick-off. You
should have 600pts completed and
ready to play. Follow all normal
comp rules here (1 HQ & 2 TR).
Anything extra is up to your discretion.
We will announce the location of
the game as the date gets closer.
January
15 - The 1100pt deadline.
Your forces should really be taking
shape by now. You can play at Kool
Kollectibles on East Sahara or Dark
Tower Comics on West Sahara.
February
5 - 1500pts should be completed.
This game should be a great test
for your final army composition.
Play at Kool Kollectibles or Dark
Tower Comics.
February
26th - Bring your completed
1850pts to the RTT and kick some
butt!
Participants:
Below is a list of
participants. As documents and photos
are submitted, we will maintain
a page for each one to track the
progress. (Note to participants:
Please send Grace (Arylith@yahoo.com)
your updates so you can have a page
of your own!) Those people listed
in BOLD have paid. Those not in
bold can still pay, but must do
so PRIOR to the February Tournament.
