40k Army Challenge 2005! - Bill Harris' Tau

Last Updated 10.18.04

When picking what would be my next army, I first looked at what I already had. I have 3 armies right now, and as I looked at them, I realized they were all pretty much hand to hand armies. (White Scars marines, undivided chaos, and dark eldar). Sure, each of them had shooty elements, but overall the theme of each army was in the assault phase.

With that in mind, I decided I wanted to go to the other end of the spectrum and make myself a SAFH. I looked at various lists, including variant marine chapters, eldar, more chaos, etc. In the end, I decided that I just liked the feel of the Tau. After all, you dont get much shootier than this. So, I gathered up a few of the metal models to experiment with paint schemes on while slowly gathering up the rest of the army.

Now, with the challenge ready to begin, I have almost the entire 1850 army sitting in boxes on the sprue, the test models are looking good, and I'm about ready to begin the production line. Much like Grace and her marines, I already have my 1850 list planned out, barring changes due to experience.

For cool factor (and because I've never seen anyone else use him) I decided to use the variant list offered by Commander Farsight. However, the model will have interchangeable arms so I can play as generic Tau sometimes also. The variant list doesn't change much, it limits the force selection a bit, and provides an opgrade option to every model in the army that makes them slightly better in HtH, but I will not be using this option on most units.

The List:
Again, much like Grace, I made up what I thought would be a good army list and worked backwards from there using those models and units.
