My proposed
list:
HQ
312
Wild Rider Chief, Power weapon
5 wild rider kinsmen 2 cc weapons,
family banner
- This unit will be part of my assault
unit. I know they are fragile, but
their extra attacks as well as toughness
may make them worth while. Also
with their high speed I can attack
from a fair distance away.
160
Baharroth
- I'm taking a big unit of swooping
hawks and this model is so cool.
Basically I'm building an eldar
army so I can field these guys.
TROOPS
195
5 guardian jetbike squad, 1 shuriken
cannon
195
5 guardian jetbike squad, 1 shuriken
cannon
130
2 vypers w/ Star Cannon
65
Vyper w/ Bright Lance
65
Vyper w/ Bright Lance
280
5 Shining Spears, Exarch, PW, skillful
rider
- These will support jetbike squads
in combined assaults.
ELITE
241
9 swooping hawks, Exarch, Web of
skulls, sustained assault
- The second reason for fielding
an eldar army. Also support assault
group.
TROOP
205
10 guardians (storm/defender), Wave
serpent W/ bright lance
- Don't know if I'm using storm
or defender squads. Also not sure
if I'm using bright lance or starcannon.
1848 TOTAL
This gives me:
21 bikes (10 guardian/5 shining
spears/6 HQ)
4 vypers
9 swooping hawks + phoenix lord
10 troops + Wave serpent.
October 12:
There were some major
focus points when i decided to do
the Jetbike
army list.
1. I'm sick of being slow
2. I'm sick of being slow
3. I'm tired of space marines of
all types...
Ok and with those
thoughts, i opened my great GW book
of figures and began to browse the
40k section. Lo and Behold, one
model has once again jumped from
the pages of the great book of GW:
Swooping Hawks and in particular
their Phoenix Lord.
It was settled...i
was doing an Eldar army.
So i got the first
unit out of the way, which limited
me on what i could field. no Black
guardian army, no Iyandian army.
this left vanilla,
Saim-hann, and Biel-tan. I instantly
ruled out vanilla. while i love
the wraithlord model (and would
not mind having one on my side rather
than across the board), i didn't
want to do the hoards of guardians,
which would result in another shooty
army. this took me to thought 4.
no more shooty armies!
This left biel-tan/Saim-hann.
1. Grace has a biel-tan
army
2. Swooping hawks don't count as
troops for biel-tan
3. i don't care for striking scorpions
or dark reapers. (don't care for
the models)
OK, that leaves 2
aspects for troops...not to good
so this left what i consider the
"prettiest army in the game"
Saim-Hann jetbike list.
THOUGHTS ON ARMY LIST
I wanted both a pretty
army, and a themed army. As you
all know, i like cool armies rather
than "winning armies"
and by this i mean to give my excuse
as to why my thousand sons don't
win very often. hehehee. So as the
core of Saim-hann list is alot of
jetbikes. 21 in my case. 2 units
of 5 guardian jetbikes, 1 unit of
5 shining spears, and a wild rider
chief(of course i'm taking the chief)
with his 5 kinsman (wielding the
massive family banner...well, at
least my banner is going to be massive
if i can get away with it!)
Next comes vypers.
4 of them to be exact, wielding
bright lances and star cannons (2
of each) this will give a bit of
fire support and tank hunting.
third comes swooping
hawks...the reason i chose this
army. a big unit of 8 plus 1 exarch.
and of course i need their phoenix
lord for my second hq choice. why,
because they look cool!
well after all that,
i'm almost out of points. i used
up all my Fast attack choices (which
count in place of troops for this
army) and my HQ's don't have much
more options. I noticed the Eldar
boxed set was a good deal and contained
good figures for my army...so why
not use them all. Modify the falcon
into a wave serpent and use 10 of
the guardians and viola...1850 points.
this leaves 6 guardians
for various conversions/baggage/techs
to work on the jetbikes/whatever...
On that note, tonight
i picked up the swooping hawk (minus
phoneix lord) part of teh army and
will proceed to get those done soon...er
than later. ;)
October 18:
OK. Wwooping Hawks
ver3 is finished and i think this
is what i'm going to stick with.
The first verson of
the colors was a pastel blue base
with ice white armour. (brant saw
this version) however he noted that
without washing or blending, the
figure lost alot of details. so
in ver 2 I gave the entire figure
a blue wash...didn't like it, so
it got a purple wash... was better
but looked like it was heading in
the direction of purple and white...not
that their is anything wrong with
purple and white, but you know...(girly
colors...hehehehe jk)
So ver 3 started with
a white base, then a black wash.
(don't ask why). then a heavy dry
brush of true blue (the color of
my 1000 sons). then the gems got
painted a light purple. then a lighter
dry brush of periwinkle blue, then
a lighter dry brush of ice white,
then finally a light skull white
drybrush.
The sash (which i'm
pretty proud of) was warlock purple,
to crimson gore, to blood red, to
firy orange, and finally skull white.
This will be the scheme
of all 8 swooping hawks, with extra
detail going to the exarch (#9)
and finally even more detail going
to the Phoenix Lord (#10)
