Harry
has always been a science fiction
and fantasy nut. From his Dad reading
him Burroughs as a child, to seeing
Star Wars for the first time when
seven, to hearing about (but not
seeing) the original Lord of the
Rings animated movie, and then reading
Tolkien, it was a natural progression
to begin playing Dungeons and Dragons
when the basic set came out around
1980. That led to AD&D, then
to Traveller (remember the little
black books?), and then that led
to a search to find the OOP Striker
miniatures rules for the game. Somehow,
that led Harry straight into Warhammer
40,000, which was called Rogue Trader
back then. He probably bought the
first copy to hit San Diego in late
1987 (or was it early 1988?) and
he has been a GW fan from then on.
Since that time, he has played just
about all of the 40K variants (Necromunda,
Gorkamorka, =][=, etc.), has played
Warhammer Fantasy Battles (both
3rd Edition and the current 6th
Edition) and has found time to engage
in historical miniatures (DBA) and
15mm fantasy (Hordes of the Things).
For a while there, it looked like
he was going to be sucked into the
Maelstrom playing Vor, but FASA
went under and interest declined
for the game locally. Last year,
Harry became an Outcast for Dark
Age Games, and since that time has
risen through the company hierarchy,
now being a staff member that handles
some rules creation, playtesting,
editing, and occasional marketing
duties.
